Fri 21st June 2019 - MALAYSIAN COOKING
Malaysian cuisine, although different to Indian and Thai flavours, is however, heavily influenced by Indian, Thai, Chinese and Indonesian flavours. The combination of lime leaves, lemongrass and coconut milk with Indian spices such as turmeric, cumin and coriander, gives Malaysian food it’s distinct taste.
Many dishes incorporate Rempah, a spice paste or mix similar to Indian Masala. Rempahs are made by grinding up fresh and/or dried spices and herbs to create a paste which is then sauteed in oil to bring out the aromas. Popular Malaysian recipes include beef redang curry, laksa curry, nasi lemak and chicken satay.
